LEFOO LF16 Water Pump Pressure Switch
Mechanical pressure-control switch for pumps in the LEFOO LF16 family. The correct operating range, contact wiring and hydraulic or pneumatic installation depend on the ordered variant.
Model Identification & Key Specifications
Manufacturer Technical Data
Pump controller cut-in/cut-out must be selected as a PAIR, not one absolute upper setpoint: original example factory 20–40 / 30–50 / 40–60 or 70–100psi options, differentials typically 15–35psi depending on family row. Original electrical table lists single phase 120VAC 2HP, 240VAC 3HP and three-phase 240VAC 5HP, which are horsepower/end-use ratings, not arbitrary switch current figures. 1/4in NPT male/female connection must match installation.
AirAlign Engineering & Selection Analysis
A pump’s minimum delivery pressure and maximum vessel rating determine the target cut-in and cut-out PAIR. Comparing only maximum pressure or the horsepower figure can result in short cycling, dry running or inadequate pressure at the highest outlet.
Correct system operation is determined by the restart threshold, stop threshold, motor electrical duty and the available pressure supply. An adjustment range does not imply every combination is approved: compare manufacturer-specified differential, pressure proof, operating medium and fitting. For motor-driven equipment, locked-rotor conditions, overload protection and cycling frequency are separately important even where a contact-current rating is published.
Installation, Compatibility & Protection
Specify both cut-in and cut-out conditions for the intended equipment, and verify the manufacturer’s permitted hysteresis. Do not use proof or burst pressures as running thresholds.
NO and NC contacts have different protection and restart behavior. Match the wiring schedule and motor/contactor duty, rather than relying only on voltage and ampere numbers.
Verify actual air versus water compatibility, wetted materials, connection thread standard, sealing method and temperature of the process. The manufacturer variant must support the full application.
A maker-hosted CE, TÜV, UL or CSA record may cover only stated models and revisions. It is not equivalent to proof of ATEX/IECEx approval or a finished installation certificate.
LF16 and LF16-1: Pump Control Selection Matrix
For automatic water pumping, the cut-in/cut-out pressure pair, the usable differential and the motor horsepower rating must be considered together. LEFOO distinguishes LF16 and LF16-1 electrical configurations; using a family name alone cannot establish suitability for the installed motor.
| Configuration | Manufacturer-listed example | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Setpoint pairing | 20/40, 30/50, 40/60 and 70/100 psi examples | Select the restart and stop pressures together. |
| LF16 motor class | 2 HP at 120 VAC single-phase; 3 HP at 240 VAC single-phase; 5 HP at 240 VAC three-phase | These are motor-class ratings for the stated conditions, not a blanket ampere rating. |
| LF16-1 motor class | Lower listed ratings for some versions (e.g., 1.5 / 2 / 3 HP by supply), with order-specific alternatives | Do not assume the base LF16 motor table applies to LF16-1. |
| Pressure connection | 1/4-in male or female NPT options | Verify thread style, seal and mechanical support. |

LF16 — water pump pressure hysteresis
LF16 is a mechanical pressure-control switch for a water pump. Select a cut-in pressure that maintains required delivery pressure and a cutout below system maximum pressure, accounting for pressure-tank precharge. Test the actual differential and pump restart frequency with a gauge. Contact current, waterproofing of electrical entries and medium-facing materials must match the installation; the switch is not a dry-run protection system unless separately documented.
