ATM/GR analog output versus electronic switching
ATM/GR combines pressure measurement with configurable switching thresholds, a materially different application from a transmitter used only for continuous process monitoring. Determine whether the host expects analog process feedback, a discrete switch signal or both; validate contact type, electrical load, hysteresis and reset behavior using the exact manufacturer ordering code. Controller logic should account for transients and sensor faults, not treat a programmable threshold as an independently rated overpressure safety relief device. The STS ATM/T picture on the site is a related example rather than an exact ATM/GR image. Do not transfer hazardous-area approvals from a differently named transmitter family.
STS ATM/GR — continuous analog pressure plus adjustable switching
| Model / specification | Official maker data | Implementation boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure span | 100 mbar to 1000 bar advertised, static ±0.50 / 0.25 / 0.10%FS classes | Do not infer mechanical switch hysteresis or alarm trip error from analog FS accuracy alone. |
| Measurement output | 0–5/0–10VDC or 0–20/4–20mA analogue process pressure variants | Continuous measurement is not replaced by a 1-bit pressure status. |
| Switching channels | STS family listing describes two adjustable electronic pressure limits | These are electronic control outputs, not automatically 5A mechanical dry relay contacts. |
| Operating/media | -25…+85°C electronics and -40…+150°C process | Confirm connector, temperature isolation, switching response time and allowed limit logic. |
| Process construction | Stainless steel or titanium; multiple G1/4, NPT and G1/2 process port options | The page image shows a related ATM/T, not an actual ATM/GR switch; no blanket Ex classification. |
Source and final unit approvals
Use ATM/GR for combined monitoring and supervisory setpoint logic when the host requires a continuous analogue reading and local switch. Set hysteresis, fail-safe state, trip and output electrical contact limits based on the exact STS manual.
