DPS 200 — economical HVAC differential monitoring
DPS 200 is listed for HVAC-type differential pressure monitoring with 6–1,000 mbar variants and a nominal 2% FSO class. Determine whether that full-scale uncertainty is acceptable at the actual fan/duct pressure drop, especially when range is oversized. For filter condition monitoring, verify high/low hose connections, zero procedure and enclosure exposure. This transmitter is not an independent safety-rated fan-pressure proving switch, nor should DPT 200 precision claims be copied across to it.

Original BD|SENSORS catalogue differentiates calibrated pressure ranges, media and approval tiers. A family range and optional certification must not be confused with the ordered device.
| Parameter | Original maker statement | Practical selection note |
|---|---|---|
| Primary duty | Duct/fan/filter monitoring for HVAC gas pressure differences | Not a wet/wet hydrostatic level probe or precision process cell. |
| Range portfolio | From 0–6 mbar to 0–1000 mbar depending on model | Select range by expected normal and alarm differential. |
| OEM accuracy | 2% FSO | Distinguish full-scale error from ±2% of individual low-flow reading. |
| Transducer | Piezoresistive silicon differential sensor | Requires dry non-aggressive air/gas and proper tube routing. |
| Compliance listing | BD|SENSORS catalogue shows CE and UL markers | No automatic ATEX/IECEx certification just from these badges. |
| Industrial network | Standard listing does not claim universal BACnet/Modbus outputs | Use the specified device’s output variant, analog PLC wiring and settings. |
| Application risk | Filter clogging and fan-proving thresholds require directional ΔP and fault detection | Do not use an uncertified HVAC pressure input as the sole safety interlock. |
Application engineering and commissioning
For a filter-pressure alarm, establish baseline pressure across a clean filter at a defined airflow and choose a differential span near expected dirty-filter cutoff. At 2% FSO, an unnecessarily high-range DPS 200 might have a large absolute measurement uncertainty near a low threshold. Compare DPS 200 against DMD 341 higher-accuracy variants before selecting for tight cleanroom pressurization. Properly secure impulse tubing; avoid condensate pockets and pneumatic leaks, and provide clear wiring-failure indication.
