EE650 — film anemometry and interface choice
The EE650 uses a thin-film air-velocity sensing element, with nominal configurable 0–10, 0–15 or 0–20 m/s ranges depending on the selected variant. Duct mount versus remote probe changes installation and cable/connection requirements. Validate 0–10 V, 4–20 mA or RS485/Modbus hardware and actual signal scaling before BMS wiring; the options are not necessarily simultaneous on one unit. Choose a probe location with stable air profile and examine expected condensation, dust and cleaning exposure.
EE650 — user-selected air velocity range and Modbus interface
The details below are specific model or order-family properties taken from the original equipment maker. For each installed unit, suffix, test conditions and revised documentation govern.
| Attribute | Manufacturer data | Engineering significance |
|---|---|---|
| Sensing technology | Thin-film thermal anemometry in duct or remote-probe configuration | Airflow profile and probe position influence representative velocity. |
| User-selectable full scales | 0–10, 0–15 or 0–20 m/s (published usable interval begins ~0.2 m/s) | Verify fan low-flow conditions against the chosen span. |
| Accuracy at reference conditions | ±(0.2 m/s + 3% of measured value) | At 1 m/s, absolute zero-offset term is a major proportion of the reading. |
| Output class | 0–10 V or 4–20 mA; RS485 Modbus RTU on suitable interface variants | The exact ordered interface must match installed BAS hardware. |
| Typical response | 1 s or 4 s selectable | Choose trend smoothing versus rapid fan-control response. |
| Power supply | 24 V AC/DC | Observe the exact variant’s wiring and output power requirements. |
Engineering selection and installation
E+E describes electronics-board and digital-interface configuration. Some jumper-set analog variants support voltage or current selection while others use Modbus RTU; do not assume the same physical outputs on every part. Thermally measured local duct velocity is not equivalent to certified duct volumetric flow unless air-density and area/profile effects are addressed. For VAV/ventilation control, place the sensor clear of elbows and dampers where possible, check probe orientation, verify analog scaling and account for dust/deposits that can change heat-transfer response. Humidity condensation and protective probe design need review for the actual location.
