TSYS01 — reference temperature accuracy and heat path

TE Connectivity TSYS01 G-NICO-018 is a small QFN digital temperature component offering I²C/SPI host connectivity. A maker ±0.1°C figure at reference conditions is not automatically the error of a complete thermostat exposed to PCB self-heating and enclosure gradients. Check 2.2–3.6 V supply, communication setup, sampling timing and the exact thermal pad/layout before designing in the part. It measures temperature, not pressure or relative humidity.

Source-based engineering specifications and selection

The TSYS01, TE part G-NICO-018, is a digital temperature IC intended to be integrated into OEM electronics. Its widely advertised ±0.1°C value relates to defined reference/accuracy conditions rather than an installed thermostat’s full −40 to +125°C system-level error.

Part-specific specificationSystem design implication
QFN16; 4 × 4 × 0.85 mmDesign correct PCB land pattern and thermal coupling; avoid heating from processors and power converters.
2.2–3.6 V supply; max 12.5 µA current (TE part listing)Not a 5 V tolerant output assumption; verify actual I/O rail and conversion duty cycle.
−40 to +125°C operating range; ±0.1°C at reference, accuracy interval −5 to +50°COutside the accuracy interval, do not extrapolate ±0.1°C without consulting the manufacturer error curves.
I²C / SPI; 16/24-bit output/resolution optionsChoose and wire protocol-specific mode pins, handle calibration coefficients and confirm host conversion.

Application-level measurement quality

Conduct the thermal error budget at installed duty cycle: package-to-air lag, enclosure stratification, nearby resistive loads and solar gains often exceed die-level errors. Confirm the precise G-NICO-018 ordering code and hardware revision before substitution by similar TSYS01-1 variants; a related catalog part number does not prove identical fit or procurement status. No hazardous-location, intrinsically safe or safety-critical alarm certification is implied.
