MS5637 — absolute barometric reading versus DP sensor

TE Connectivity MS5637 is a compact absolute pressure sensor with a 24-bit digital conversion architecture. A barometric absolute pressure value is fundamentally different from differential HVAC filter pressure or a direct tank gauge reading; conversions must account for the measurement reference and elevation where appropriate. Confirm 1.5–3.6 V host supply, compensation coefficients, actual reference accuracy near ±4 mbar and operating-temperature envelope from the ordered datasheet.

Source-based engineering specifications and selection

MS563702BA03-50 is an absolute barometric-pressure MEMS module, not a differential static-pressure probe for HVAC ducts. TE lists a 24-bit ADC and a low-voltage surface-mount package for altimeter/barometric applications.

Maker part / parameterIntegration or selection caution
TE MS563702BA03-50: absolute pressure; 24-bit ADCPressure referenced to vacuum, not a gauge or differential port; do not use directly for ΔP air-filter duty.
1.5–3.6 V supply; 3 × 3 × 0.9 mm SMDUse a compatible low-voltage digital host and layout/assembly flow.
TE part listing: ±4 mbar pressure accuracy; −40 to +85°C operatingCheck specified ambient/pressure intervals, calibration and long-term drift in the current device sheet; do not treat this as ±4 Pa.
Resolution listed as 0.016 mbar at its highest oversampling settingResolution is not absolute accuracy; oversampling changes conversion time and power.

Barometric computation and misuse risks

Compensate raw pressure with manufacturer coefficients, use a pressure-to-altitude model only with an appropriate sea-level reference, and validate any enclosure pressure offsets. For HVAC filter monitoring, select a differential-pressure transmitter with two pressure ports instead. The TE page marks this SKU active while direct online availability is limited; procurement, part marking and supply status still need order-level confirmation. No Ex approval is established for the component.
