ZE03-NO₂ — electrochemical selectivity
The ZE03-NO₂ gas-specific cell is listed around 0–20 ppm with UART/analog conditioned outputs in the ZE03 family. Nitrogen dioxide monitoring depends on actual interfering oxidants, sensor life, temperature and humidity, so confirm the ordered sensor’s calibration protocol rather than transferring a ZE03-O₃ curve. Specify the host’s alarm/warning logic and reading interval for the intended exposure setting. The module alone is not a certified ambient-monitoring station or a complete industrial protective gas detector.

| Parameter | OEM documentation | Engineering interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Specific gas cartridge | NO₂ electrochemical element fitted into the ZE03 generic electronic module | A ZE03 CO/O₃/Cl₂ sensor is not chemically equivalent to the NO₂ ordered SKU. |
| Nominal NO₂ span | 0–20 ppm based on Winsen’s gas/range matrix | Final gas sensor calibration, fault code and decimal setting require NO₂ manual. |
| Supply / energy | 5.0 ±0.1 V DC; less than 5 mA operating current (standard ZE03) | Do not directly apply 24 V transmitter wiring. |
| Serial communications | 3 V TTL UART plus analog sensor-amplifier output | TTL UART is NOT differential RS485 or HART. |
| Gas response | ≤25 s for NO₂ in manufacturer reference matrix | Other ZE03 gases have different physical response and ranges. |
| Environment | −20 to +50 °C, 15–90%RH noncondensing; Ø23.5 ×24.5 mm | Condensation, interfering oxidants and protected gas paths require testing. |
| Service planning | Manufacturer ZE03 nominal two-year operating life | End-of-life and contamination checks need calibration program. |
Installation, electronics and calibration
Winsen’s standard ZE03 electronics are shared between gas species but the electrochemical cartridge and analog polarity/scale differ. The manufacturer’s matrix shows NO₂ output polarity versus other gas variants, so interpret the exact amplifier signal and serial decimal precision instead of assuming a universal 0.6–3 V increase with concentration. For roadside/parking indoor NO₂ monitoring, maintain independent CO and NO₂ channels and respective ventilation alarm thresholds. Interference from ozone and gas mixtures should be addressed using the current NO₂ sensor element datasheet. A bare module is not an ATEX-approved complete instrument.
