Range and interfering-gas characteristics must be checked for the exact sensor code and current revision.
Original manufacturer model check
Satellix are interchangeable plug-and-play electrochemical sensing cartridges for compatible Satellite XT instruments, offered in several formats for gas-specific monitoring. The sensor-cartridge approval cannot be substituted for the host detector Ex/functional safety certification.
What Satellix actually is — Satellite XT replacement cartridges
Important nomenclature: “Semiconductor” in this legacy AirAlign page title describes the semiconductor manufacturing industry, not a metal-oxide semiconductor sensing principle. Sensorix’s Satellix range is made of electrochemical sensor cartridges and catalytic pellistor LEL cartridges for matching Satellite XT transmitters.
| Satellix cartridge format | Published principle / use | Host integration issue |
|---|---|---|
| Satellix Standard | Electrochemical cartridge for most target toxic/process gases | Gas-specific calibration range and compatible Satellite XT device must be verified. |
| Satellix 4S | Electrochemical SO₂, NO, NO₂ and O₂ formats | Distinct physical size / gas chemistry; not mechanically assumed equivalent to Standard. |
| Satellix LEL | Catalytic-bead (pellistor) combustible-gas sensing | LEL catalytic method is different from an electrochemical toxic-gas ppm cell; poisoning / oxygen dependence needs evaluation. |
| All three families | Dedicated socket and programmed EPROM | “Plug and play” applies to the intended Satellite XT equipment, not generic 4–20mA or I²C sensor hosts. |
Semiconductor-process gas portfolio and cartridge QA
Sensorix lists over 30 gases, including hydrides (AsH₃, PH₃, SiH₄ and B₂H₆), acids (HF, HCl, HBr), oxidizers (Cl₂, NO₂) and H₂/O₂. Gas-specific detection ranges, T90, cartridge code, programmed EPROM and compatible host revision must be checked from the chosen target-gas listing; a single universal Satellix range or threshold would be technically incorrect. A service replacement should document host zero/span, fault reporting and bump testing after installation.
Certification: Sensorix cartridge compatibility does not itself establish the model- and jurisdiction-specific ATEX/IECEx, functional-safety or performance approval of the complete Satellite XT installation.
