SS4198 H₂S — sensing span versus overload and maintenance
SENKO identifies SS4198 as a 0–200 ppm H₂S electrochemical cell with 1,000 ppm maximum overload, a manufacturer sensitivity of 380 ± 80 nA/ppm and T90 below 35 seconds. The overload figure is a survivability limit, not an extended calibrated 1,000 ppm reporting range. Transimpedance electronics, temperature correction and field calibration determine usable instrument performance.
The manufacturer positions the cell for portable and fixed detection in wastewater, mining and industrial safety. For alarm integration, allow for diffusion delay, inlet filters, humidity, H₂S sensor poisoning/consumption and the cell’s finite service life (manufacturer cites more than 24 months under stated conditions). Compare current sensor data and assembled-instrument certifications before assigning any alarm or intrinsically safe rating.
