ALTA temperature/humidity — cold-chain reporting
Monnit ALTA temperature and humidity variants differ by wireless region, AA/battery or external power, lead design and optional calibration. A long-distance radio path and infrequent sampling can make the recorded event time later than a short excursion in a refrigerated facility. Choose reporting interval, gateway resilience, condensation protection and temperature/RH measurement location for the actual purpose. The pictured no-lead enclosure cannot prove compatibility with detachable probe versions.
ALTA relative humidity, temperature and calculated dew point
| Parameter | Manufacturer fact | Selection/QA significance |
|---|---|---|
| Sensing principle | Silicon digital RH/temperature sensor; iMonnit can compute dew point, moisture weight, heat index and wet-bulb temperature | Calculated comfort/moisture metrics are not independent additional certified humidity probes. |
| Humidity accuracy | Monnit current family page states ±3% RH for 10–90% RH | Do not apply ±3% under sustained extreme RH or liquid condensation without environment-specific proof. |
| Humidity drift limitation | Monnit warns prolonged >80%RH exposure may cause a temporary RH offset which recovers slowly | Recheck readings against a standard and mitigate humidity saturation or condensation in greenhouse units. |
| Field calibration | Current ALTA firmware 14.x and later supports stored calibration adjustment | Older ALTA and Gen1 variants differ; do not assume calibration is available on all installed serials. |
| Remote variants | Commercial AA, enterprise and industrial enclosures with detachable/hot-swappable NIST-traceable leads on selected units | Pictured standard housing does not establish lead/connector version or a signed certificate for every device. |
Radio, calibration and safety boundary
Check exact radio region, gateway compatibility, the delivered maker part number, firmware and calibration revision. A radio/cloud alert is not an independently certified hazardous-area instrument or hardwired emergency alarm, unless the exact installed system and approval evidence explicitly demonstrate it.
