MH-Z1311A — 10-second start and UART settings
MH-Z1311A is a compact NDIR CO₂ UART module whose datasheet lists a short nominal preheat and a family accuracy of ±(30 ppm + 3% of reading) in defined 15–35°C conditions. Those are not claims of identical performance at all outdoor temperatures. Configure the receiving controller for the exact frame, power and serial voltage level, verify its calibration logic and compare the order code’s concentration range with HVAC application needs. Don’t assume pin compatibility with MH-Z19B simply because both are Winsen NDIR units.

| Specification | Original manufacturer evidence | Design caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer lifecycle | Official Winsen MH-Z1311A page marked discontinued; suggests MH-V1512A | Do not retain ‘active’ stock/brand-new production claims on an obsolete part. |
| Gas and optics | NDIR CO₂ with automatic temperature compensation | True infrared selective CO₂; not a flammable hydrocarbon detector. |
| Measurement options | 0–2,000, 0–5,000, 0–10,000ppm | Installed factory option sets output scaling. |
| Accuracy at 15–35°C | ±(30ppm +3% of reading) in maker specified central temperature band | At 1,000ppm nominal class ≈±60ppm within that band. |
| Temperature extremes | ±10% of reading quoted for −10…15°C or 35…50°C | Do not promote central-band precision across the whole operating range. |
| Electrical | 5.0±0.1V DC, sensor host logic and output according to ordered manual | Substituting MH-V1512A requires a pin/power/command review. |
| Dynamic response | T90 <60s | Control-side filtering, gas routing and firmware polling add additional system delay. |
| Physical package | 32.36×19.5×11.4mm | Despite similar width to MH-Z19B, mounting height and I/O differ. |
OEM integration, calibration and product lifecycle
This is a legacy model useful for servicing installed equipment, not an active new-design selection. Winsen’s replacement suggestion MH-V1512A requires the selected hardware supply and alarm/serial interface to be independently validated, especially if the original firmware uses vendor-specific UART calibration commands. The source grades CO₂ accuracy differently in central vs extreme temperature bands; a room sensor at −10°C cannot be assigned ±(30ppm +3%) without qualifications. Calibration using reference gas, enclosure airflow, pressure and sensor ageing remain necessary.
