Product Positioning

SST SprintIR-R is part of SST SENSING’s NDIR CO₂ sensing portfolio for OEM integration.

SprintIR-R: Response and Installation Verification

Concentration and range: AirAlign records the SprintIR-R within SST Sensing’s high-range NDIR CO₂ family, with options up to 100% CO₂. Specify the exact range and required response time from the current manufacturer drawing instead of assuming an arbitrary “R” suffix proves a response rating.

Serial integration: With UART listed as the interface, evaluate host update rate, electrical levels, payload handling and fail-safe behavior. If connected to an active flow or mixing process, measured delay includes gas transport, module response and controller filtering.

Comparison: The similarly named SprintIR-6S and ExplorIR-M modules require separate datasheet checks for power, size, range, temperature and calibration. Do not rely on a shared catalog heading as interchangeability evidence.

Maintenance: Plan calibration checks and easy access to the sensing path; verify accuracy and lifecycle before procurement.

SST SprintIR-R — 50 Hz CO₂ reporting, flow-conditioned fast sampling — original manufacturer selection data

SST’s OEM gas sensor specifications depend on the ordered range, gas flow, pressure and firmware. Reporting frequency, actual gas response and measurement uncertainty are distinct parameters.

ParameterOEM dataEngineering boundary
Core sensing technologyLED driven NDIR optical CO₂ with UART digital outputMeasures true CO₂, not eCO₂ from a volatile-organic sensor.
Sampling rateUp to 50 CO₂ readings per second according to current SST product pageDifferent from SprintIR-6S maximum 20 readings/s.
Gas test noteMaker performance statement uses 0.1 L/min sample flow and 0–10% CO₂ stepResponse figures depend on flow rate; not guaranteed with arbitrary sampling tube.
Calibrated range optionsUp to 100% CO₂ by versionMust order the selected 5/20/60/100%vol grade; low-ppm precision differs.
Electrical supplyVendor describes 3.3V low-power operationThe website’s −0.3…6.0V value is the absolute supply boundary, NOT permitted operating voltage.
InterfaceUART communication and integrated auto-calibrationNo blanket assertion of analog 4–20mA, Ethernet or Modbus RS485.
Pressure/environment500mbar–2bar operating pressure according to current website; humidity below condensationMeasurement precision also depends on pressure compensation and sample state.
Available accessoriesOptional flow adaptors, diffusion cap and T/RH-equipped variantsOnly installed options support the corresponding measurement and gas path.

Gas sampling, UART commissioning and error budget

SprintIR-R is appropriate where breathing tests or research require rapid CO₂ time series, but a 50Hz digital report is not proof that every sample changes instantaneously with actual inlet gas. SST clearly specifies the supporting 0.1L/min test flow and 0–10% gas step; track installed pump, dead volume and inlet tubing separately. The manufacturer’s web ‘Supply voltage −0.3V to +6.0V’ is an absolute rating rather than a design supply—avoid ever recommending negative-voltage powering. The 100% measurement family capability must not be conflated with low-ppm calibrated accuracy.

Original official specification: SST exact model page and linked latest technical documents. The actual range variant, test gas conditions and electrical datasheet must govern integration.
