SGX INIR2-CD5 — 0–5%vol NDIR, component safety limits — detailed technical comparison and documentation
Manufacturer source data are specific to the selected sensor physics, ordered range and application conditions. Factory product family options do not all apply to a single device.
| Specification | Original maker evidence | Integration/selection qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Sensing system | NDIR CO₂ with integrated microcontroller, temperature compensation and fault diagnostic logic | Not a bare pyroelectric photodiode; calibration and UART framing reside on the sensor’s onboard electronics. |
| Calibrated range | 0–5% by volume CO₂ (50,000 ppm upper full scale) | 5%vol cannot be interpreted as 5ppm; detector needs clear gas units and corrected end limits. |
| Sensitivity of the output | Resolution up to 10ppm; detectivity level 100ppm per manufacturer | A 10ppm numerical increment does not establish ±10ppm accuracy. |
| Electrical communications | Analogue gas proportional signal plus UART serial with CRC validation | Analogue scaling/diagnostic codes are model-specific; no default industrial 4–20mA field loop. |
| Typical sensor energy | <100mW average as indicated on current manufacturer website | Supply voltage, burst current and certified entity parameters require current hardware datasheet. |
| Installation and support | Dedicated SGX gas/flow hood JAS769640AA and PC evaluation system available | A hood changes response time and sample flow; use approved accessories. |
| Certification claim | Official page links IECEx/ATEX component approvals including issue numbers | Component certificate suffix ‘U’ does not certify an assembled safety alarm in a classified zone. |
Design, gas calibration and safety boundaries
The CD5 is a percent-level CO₂ gas sensor appropriate to a gas-safety or process instrument, not a standard ±50ppm HVAC IAQ module. Design the host to interpret UART CRC, stale reading and fault frames and prove the analog signal scale with a certified CO₂ reference. The SGX public model page separately lists the Ex component certificates: the final instrument with PCB, enclosure, battery and cable glands still needs its own applicable conformity determination. A 100ppm detectivity value must not be sold as a guarantee of the final emergency shutdown system’s low-level alarm response.
