Figaro CDM7162
A compact NDIR CO₂ sensor module using a single light source and dual-wavelength optical system. Figaro designed the CDM7162 for indoor air quality control, fresh-air ventilation and related HVAC applications.
Key Specifications — CDM7162-C00
Optical Design
The CDM7162 uses one infrared light source with two detector channels and different optical filters. One channel measures the CO₂ absorption wavelength while the second measures a reference wavelength. Figaro uses the difference between these signals to calculate CO₂ concentration and support long-term output stability.
Typical Applications
Figaro lists indoor air quality control, fresh-air ventilation, air conditioners, and automatic fans or window openers among the intended applications. The manufacturer also positions the module for integration into compact environmental monitors and controllers.

Figaro CDM7162 — OEM NDIR with PWM and alarm functions: OEM specifications and integration
The manufacturer publishes model- and range-specific measurement data; numerical test values, measurement accuracy and digital output envelope are not interchangeable.
| Specification | Official product data | Engineering consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Detection mechanism | Non-dispersive infrared CO₂ module CDM7162-C00 | Gas selective CO₂ versus estimated eCO₂ from volatile gas sensor. |
| Calibrated range | 360–5,000 ppm; factory accuracy ±(50 ppm + 3% reading) | Do not describe the 65,535 ppm digital code range as equally accurate. |
| Digital interface | UART / I²C with 2-second measurement interval | Sensor communication and ADC timing depend on OEM protocol. |
| PWM representation | 1 kHz duty cycle maps 0–5,000 ppm | Microcontroller must decode frequency/duty correctly and validate out-of-range states. |
| CO₂ alarm output | High above 1,000 ppm; Low below 900 ppm nominal hysteresis | Preconfigured alarm thresholds are not regulatory exposure limits. |
| Power / startup | 3.3 ±0.3 V or 5.0 ±0.5 V; ~25 mA avg / 75 mA peak at 5 V; warmup at least 5 minutes | MCU power management must not call pre-warmup values stable. |
| Diffusion T90 and environment | Approximately 90 s to 90% step; 0–50 °C and 0–85%RH noncondensing | Cabinet air exchange and local heat can dominate real response. |
| Module size | 32 × 17 × 8 mm, roughly 3 g | SMD/connector orientation influences design-in. |
Application, calibration and design details
Figaro explicitly labels the accuracy as a factory test time specification; it is not proof of identical field accuracy after storage, exposure or soldering. Its pressure dependency is approximately 1% of reading per kPa, so altitude/pressure-aware correction can matter. The 1,000 ppm alarm threshold with 900 ppm return is a model logic feature—not an independent occupational safety limit. OEM applications should provide predictable warmup and a stable diffusion air path and distinguish physical PWM concentration output from UART/I²C high-value register mapping.
