Dynament low-power dual-gas CH₄ / CO₂ — low-power options are not common to all dual-gas — detailed technical comparison and documentation
Manufacturer source data are specific to the selected sensor physics, ordered range and application conditions. Factory product family options do not all apply to a single device.
| Specification | Original maker evidence | Integration/selection qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Low-power Platinum series with simultaneous methane and CO₂ infrared sensing | Same gas channels as standard dual-gas but distinct power/order hardware. |
| CO₂ hardware classes | 0–5%vol or 0–100%vol order variants | Resolution and absolute measurement uncertainty differ by model. |
| CO₂ resolution by option | 0.01%vol on 0–5% configuration; 0.1%vol on 0–100% configuration | Do not transfer 100ppm numerical resolution to 1,000ppm increment full-range version. |
| Methane resolution | 0.01%vol CH₄ from 0–5% and 0.1%vol from 5–100% by maker sensor description | A volumetric reading is not identical to a normalized methane %LEL alarm. |
| Energy versus duty | Low-power model family optimized for reduced demand; voltage and current depend on actual part code | Do not copy generic non-low-power Platinum 420mW class to a low-power SKU. |
| Certificates | Multiple Industrial Ex d IIC, mining M1, UL and non-certified orderable choices | User must check actual part-code table and safety documents, not assume all share a mark. |
| Functional safety | EN50271/SIL1 software variants and Premier Configuration Unit support | The complete methane/CO₂ gas alarm safety loop needs individual proof and calibration. |
Design, gas calibration and safety boundaries
For a wireless safety node, both sensor optical current pulses and radio/battery operation determine runtime; never project battery life from an average low-power sensor value alone. Differentiating 0–5%vol and 0–100%vol CO₂ grade is crucial for low-level alarm sensitivity: 0.1%vol resolution on the latter corresponds to roughly 1,000ppm, inappropriate for many ventilation setpoints. Assign two gas-specific PLC channels for CH₄ and CO₂ and check return-to-zero, calibration and fault states independently. An Ex-certified sensing component is not a certified finished field instrument without the rest of its Ex system design.
