XGZG360M — NDIR CO₂ UART module

XGZG360M is a compact CO₂ sensing module listed around 400–5,000 ppm, with UART output rather than a direct industrial 4–20 mA loop. The host firmware must implement the manufacturer’s serial frame, timing and error handling, and distinguish fresh measurements from retained readings during warm-up. Confirm optical sampling airflow, automatic baseline correction assumptions and deployment at consistently elevated CO₂. The sensor module itself is not an independently certified whole-room alarm or ventilation controller.

Model-specific measurement and electrical figures, output options and their source limitations.

Measured feature Maker data Practical engineering implications
Optical principle NDIR CO₂ with temperature correction and digital output Not calculated CO₂ equivalent from VOC; component alone not finished monitor.
Calibrated span 400–5,000 ppm standard, 10,000 ppm optional by order Do not assume 10,000-ppm accuracy on all standard units.
Accuracy ±(50 ppm + 5% of measured value) at 25 °C in sheet V1.3 At 1,000 ppm approximately ±100ppm manufacturer formula, pressure corrections additional.
Response vs sampling 2-second output interval, <30 s initial preheat, best accuracy after about 4 minutes The source prints response-time ‘≤2 ppm’ (wrong units); do NOT assert a response T90 in seconds from that erroneous field.
Power supply 4.9–5.5 V DC; ripple ≤35mV and source current capacity ≥500mA Optical emitter pulses can be about 110mA even when average ~25mA.
Digital protocol TTL UART 9600-8N1 with Modbus 0x04 function / CRC16 over the UART wiring Modbus framing does not imply a direct physical RS485 port on all variants.
Options PWM and 0–2 V outputs listed as custom order choices Check PTX/PRX, Aout and PWM connection pins on actual PCB.
Autocalibration Default clean-air baseline cycle around 48 hours, typical 400 ppm reference assumption A constant high-CO₂ mushroom room can cause wrong fresh-air baseline if conditions are unmet.
Durability −10 to +50 °C operation, ≥10-year maker design life Calibrate and monitor drift rather than inferring no upkeep.

System selection and verification

The original February 2023 specification gives a particularly useful host example: a command 01 04 reads the CO₂ register using Modbus-style framing and CRC over the TTL UART, with 0x0258 decoded as 600 ppm. For 24/7 CO₂-enriched agricultural spaces, the self-calibration scheme can falsely anchor to non-outdoor air; set a documented manual reference instead, and note the OEM recommends annual digital calibration. The published datasheet calls its response time ‘≤2 ppm’ for a 90% step, an obvious dimensional inconsistency. Do not convert this to ≤2 seconds or repeat it as a verified performance limit.
