Engineering and certification note: This is an OEM sensing component family, not a complete ATEX or IECEx-certified gas detection system. Manufacturer datasheets and exact part-number electrical, environmental and flow-range requirements take priority. Additional variant order codes should not be inferred solely from the family name.
PMF6000 — bypass manifold design affects calibration
PMF6000 is designed for integration into a customer-designed bypass manifold, including PMF6102 (around 1,000 sccm) and PMF6106 (around 6,000 sccm) variants. Pressure-drop ratio and flow distribution through the bypass can change response outside the manufacturer’s reference design. Verify mechanical sealing and cleanliness, calibration gas, temperature and whether the installed PMF6000V analog or PMF6000D I²C electronics suit the host. A 5 ms maker response is not the assembled appliance’s end-to-end response.
PMF6000 — bypass manifold calibration and 1/6 SLM variants
| Specification / variant | Manufacturer evidence | Engineering decision |
|---|---|---|
| Specific catalogue variants | PMF6102 1,000 sccm (1 SLM); 6,000 sccm (6 SLM) family option described on current Posifa model page | Original web text spells the 6,000-sccm part ‘PFM6106’ whereas the series naming uses PMF; obtain the manufacturer’s dated ordering table rather than silently correcting the maker’s typo. |
| Manifold installation | Third-generation MEMS die, mounted flush in a user-engineered bypass passage without external hose barbs | The bypass restrictor and main-path flow split define the system flow transfer function, unlike a pre-packaged inline meter. |
| Factory vs installed calibration | Linearised sensor-core factory calibration can be used to build an application-specific master calibration curve | A pre-calibrated die is not a calibrated full manifold flow body. Validate flow split, pressure loss, medium, mixing, tubing and sealing. |
| Response and accuracy | 5 ms typical sensor response, ±4% reading typical described for the product family | A breathing/oxygen equipment assembly has larger system response and separate total uncertainty. |
| Communication and environment | Gen I PMF families offer distinct analog or I²C versions; -25…+85°C operating manufacturer portfolio claim | Use correct datasheet and host digital pull-up voltage; do not assume PMF83000 Gen II I²C register tables apply. |
Exact SKU and system qualification
Posifa’s 2021 Gen I I²C application note explicitly applies to PMF6000 but not Gen II PMF83000/86000; default I²C address needs checking against the ordered revision. Host linearisation and any medical-device validation are separate from sensor-level measurement.
