Safety and scope: Family-wide limits can vary with diaphragm, port, switchpoint band and termination. Neither pressure proof nor burst pressure is a normal adjustment threshold, and manufacturer conformity documents must be matched to the ordered configuration.

Original Manufacturer Technical Information

Refrigeration compressor/fan pressure on/off SPDT control is not the same as LF5D oil lubrication DIFFERENTIAL protection. OEM lists R22, R134a, R404A/gas and 240VAC FL8A/LR48A or 120VAC FL16A/LR72A, ambient −20…65°C, medium −40…120°C, installation torque maximum 2 N·m and cable gland for 6–14mm jacket. Refrigerant choice, switching range, seal materials and any local F-gas/refrigerant compliance need confirmation for current exact order code.

Confirm pressure control versus safety-cutout role, manual reset versus automatic reset, rated pressure/temperature and actual refrigerant or steam medium. Select the correct process port, contacts, mounting enclosure and electrical locked-rotor rating for the compressor or pump. Confirm the correct order code, available model-specific imagery and relevant manufacturer compliance documents. Check manufacturer current order-code evidence before field installation.

Engineering Selection & Practical Interpretation

LF58 protects refrigeration pressure and runs compressor/fan control. It must not be confused with LF5D oil pressure DIFFERENTIAL safety. Verify the selected refrigerant, fitting torque (maker 2 N·m maximum) and electric motor locked-rotor switching conditions.

Before using the switch as a protective device, verify how it responds at trip, reset and loss of supply, and whether a separate calibrated monitor is required. The contact wiring, allowable media and operating temperature must correspond to the original controller design. Select a documented variant instead of assuming that similarly named housings are interchangeable.

Installation and Integration

Function & calibration

Differentiate threshold switching from continuous measurement. Confirm adjustment range, hysteresis, measurement reference and sample setup for the operating medium.

Electrical interface

NO/NC/SPDT contact type and current are configuration-specific. Low-current reed or signal contacts require suitable control electronics rather than direct motor wiring.

Mechanical environment

Check approved media, temperature, fitting, mounting orientation, protection against surges and ingress performance at the supplied cable termination.

Approvals and replacement

Conformity needs the exact serial/part option and certificate scope. A product-family marketing statement is not evidence that another configuration is explosion-protected.

LF58 — refrigeration low and high pressure cutouts

LF58 is used on refrigeration pressure circuits with maker-listed gas options such as R22/R134a/R404a; do not infer compatibility with modern refrigerants or different HFO/A2L classifications automatically. Match actual setpoint range to high/low side and selected compressor pressure envelope. Confirm automatic versus manual reset and whether the switch is normal operational control or a mandatory protective limit. Contact ratings and tubing/fitting integrity need system-level verification.
