Radius BZ1 — area network versus wearable alarm
Radius BZ1 is a relocatable area monitor rather than a substitute for a worker’s worn personal gas detector. Place units so sampled air and audible/visual alarms cover the intended release zones; configure messaging, peer connectivity and radio loss according to the site risk assessment. Choose exact gas sensors, power options and ingress/accessory requirements before field deployment. Ex certification and battery approval must be checked for each hardware configuration.
Radius BZ1 — multi-gas area monitor configuration
| Hazard capacity | Vendor states monitoring of up to seven hazards simultaneously, from selectable gas and optional gamma sensor modules. |
|---|---|
| Alarms and communications | Wireless gas-reading/alarm sharing via LENS; visible alarm LED, user-configurable action messages and 105 dB audible alarm on the current model page. |
| Runtime by configuration | Typical battery estimates: 75 days (LEL-MPS four-gas), 50 days (LEL-IR four-gas), or 30 days (wireless LEL-IR). External power configurations have effectively unlimited nominal runtime while power remains supplied. |
| Environment | −20…+55°C, 15–95% RH non-condensing on manufacturer’s currently published table. |
| Instrumentation | Gas sensors selected for actual target gas, interference and alarm range; optional PID and other technologies vary with cartridge. |
Engineering / variant cautions: Never quote the 75-day figure as a guarantee for a wireless/PID system. Check the battery, sampling, wireless network and actual intrinsic-safety approval together with the ordered configuration.
