Avolta — finished detector and cloud options
Avolta is described as a battery-powered methane/natural-gas safety detector with connected and standalone variants, unlike a bare Mulberry sensor. Select installation and notification behavior for the exact product: a cloud notification cannot replace a locally required audible alarm or fault indication. The family material cites a 10% LEL trigger and a long nominal service-life claim; both need specific unit documentation, environmental conditions and test schedule before procurement. Validate the entire detector approval, not just its underlying NDIR technology.
Avolta — Finished Low-Threshold Natural Gas Detector — detailed selection specification
Current original manufacturer product pages distinguish physical sensing, communication, approval and measured-versus-derived information. Claims below apply within each model’s documented conditions, not every related OEM product.
| Parameter | Maker specification | Engineering limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Product class | Finished methane/natural-gas detector, not a bare Mulberry sensor | Requires mounting and alarm interpretation appropriate for residential/utility services. |
| Trigger concentration | Maker states methane detection at 10% LEL | 10% LEL is not 10% methane by volume; alert scaling must be clear. |
| Power / lifespan | Battery operated with stated more than 10-year design life | Runtime depends on actual alarm activation, network and operating conditions. |
| Hardware versions | Connected or non-connected alarm products | A non-connected detector should still provide its required local protection. |
| Radio choices | OEM lists NB-IoT/LTE-M, LoRa+BLE, Milli-5 and Wi-SUN connected options | Do not claim every Avolta supports all network protocols simultaneously. |
| Remote platform | Avolta Connect fleet dashboard, historical status and incident/alarm workflows | Remote communication is a supplement, not a replacement for field audible alarm. |
| Regulatory suitability | OEM safety product with market-dependent standards | Verify gas appliance/residential code approval, battery and mounting variant by market. |
Application guidance and validation
Natural-gas odorant response and IR methane detection are different: an NDIR detector reports the configured gas signature, not the smell from odorant alone. For apartment or gas-utility deployments choose installation near likely accumulation points and away from direct ventilation dilution; adjust guidance for methane buoyancy. Networked Avolta systems must test offline alarm behavior and device status recovery after cellular or local mesh outages. Record the detector’s exact standard compliance and regional gas alarm threshold rather than relying on the underlying Mulberry module’s Ex approval.
