Official Huba Type 230 model image, variants and connectors differ by order code.

Vortex flow sensor for drinking water, hydronic loops and other compatible liquids. Kármán vortex principle, no moving sensor parts, high mechanical stability from red brass housing. Optional PT1000 temperature measurement.

Verified manufacturer specifications

  • Flow range 1.8–150 L/min; nominal widths DN10, DN15, DN20, DN25
  • Below 50% full scale: less than 1% FS water accuracy; above 50%: less than 2% of measured flow under stated conditions
  • Liquid operating range −15 to +125°C (nonfreezing); max test pressure 18 bar at 40°C; ambient −15 to +85°C
  • Outputs selectable: frequency, pulse, voltage or current; optional PT1000 temperature
  • Drinking-water approvals may include KTW/W270, ACS and WRAS as listed for selected variants

Regulatory distinction: Drinking-water approvals and EMC standards are not ATEX or IECEx hazardous-area certificates. No generic R290 Ready certification is inferred for Type 230.

Huba Type 230 — brass flow body and potable water

Type 230 is a brass-bodied vortex liquid flow sensor offered in DN10–DN25 configurations with optional PT1000 sensing. The maker’s low-flow accuracy basis differs across the lower versus upper half of the measuring span; select the actual L/min range and pipe bore before quoting uncertainty. Pressure limit at elevated temperatures, medium freezing and wetted drinking-water certificates need configuration-specific review. Its pulse, frequency, analog voltage or current variants require appropriate host inputs.

Orderable nominal sizesDN10/15/20/25, maker family flow overview 1.8–150 L/minDo not apply the 1.8 L/min threshold or 150 L/min upper end to every DN or connector.
Flow error and dynamics<1% FS below 50%FS; <2% measured flow above 50%FS; ±0.5% repeatability; flow response 5–500msSelection of electrical conditioning and process hydraulics influences actual transition response.
Physical installationCorrosion-resistant red-brass and glass-filled PA6T/6I with ETFE wetted pickup and EPDM/FKM sealsDrinking water and hydronic compatible liquids; verify disinfectant/antifreeze chemicals and seal compatibility.
Temperature option and ratingsOptional PT1000 Class B 0…125°C measurement; process liquid −15…+125°C nonfreezing; ambient −15…+85°CThermal rating does not mean boiling/two-phase liquid is a validated vortex measurement medium.
Pressure constraintsMax 7 bar continuous up to +90°C media; 18 bar test at +40°C, 1 bar minimum recommendedDifferentiates test-pressure strength from the continuous design setpoint; keep maker cavitation guidance.
Output/connectorOrder-dependent voltage/current/pulse/frequency outputs, M12x1 IP65; optional PT1000 temperature outputDo not assume one ordering version provides all four interfaces; 3- or 5-pole connector depends on temperature option.

Engineering and approval boundary

Huba Type 230 is a red-brass liquid-flow instrument, not a mechanical turbine and not a gaseous HVAC duct velocity probe. Optional WRAS/ACS water approvals relate to documented materials/configurations, not blanket ATEX. The Type 200 has a separate R290-ready VDE statement; do not copy that claim to Type 230 without its own certificate.
