Industrial wireless CO monitoring with threshold alert integration.

Manufacturer: Monnit Corporation

Safety: Wireless alerting and remote sensing are not proof that this configuration is intrinsically safe or ATEX/IECEx certified. Verify suitability before use in explosive atmospheres.

Wireless range, power source, frequency region, gateways and calibration options vary by exact part number.

Manufacturer SKU and safety check

Example US 900 MHz ordering code MNS2-9-W2-GS-C1; the manufacturer lists 0โ€“1,000 ppm CO. EU 868 MHz versions have different codes. This commercial AA-housing example does not establish hazardous-area approval.

ALTA CO remote monitoring

A wireless carbon monoxide sensor cannot be specified solely by an alarm threshold: confirm the sensing element, gas span, calibration/test schedule, telemetry interval and end-to-end cloud/gateway notification latency. Wireless connection loss should not be misinterpreted as a safe zero-CO reading. Verify regional radio variant and battery option. This product’s manufacturer photo is a particular housing example, not a certificate for a finished life-safety CO alarm.

ALTA CO โ€” live reading versus 7.5-hour time-weighted exposure

ParameterManufacturer factSelection/QA significance
Original Monnit gas range0โ€“1,000 ppm CO, accuracy ยฑ(5% of reading + 10 ppm)Both error components matter at low levels, do not advertise ยฑ5% of reading alone.
Sensor element conflictMonnit gas-product marketing calls it MEMS-based; its technical installation guide calls it an ultra-low-power electrochemical transducerThese manufacturer labels are not equivalent. The exact sensor board/generation technology requires order-revision confirmation, not inferred marketing equivalence.
Acquisition and TWASupport documents say gas read every five seconds, then a 7.5-hour TWA updated every 15 minutesMonnit’s current web marketing says eight-hour TWA; engineering implementation guide specifies 30 ร— 15-minute averages = 7.5 hours, explicitly flagged as a revision discrepancy.
Temperature compensationA temperature reading is used to compensate the CO sensing elementCO zero/span and gas cross-sensitivity must be qualified for the real installation temperature.
Cloud integrationInstantaneous and average data reported via ALTA radio/Gateway and iMonnitA wireless telemetry alert is not proof of an EN 50291/UL 2034 compliant stand-alone local audible alarm.

Radio, calibration and safety boundary

Check exact radio region, gateway compatibility, the delivered maker part number, firmware and calibration revision. A radio/cloud alert is not an independently certified hazardous-area instrument or hardwired emergency alarm, unless the exact installed system and approval evidence explicitly demonstrate it.
