Ex / Hazardous-Area Document Check
Confirmed manufacturer Ex designation (711): Huba lists ATEX II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and IECEx Ex ia IIC T4 Ga for its 711 hydrostatic level transmitter. This is intrinsic safety (Ex ia), not flameproof Ex db. Install only with the certified intrinsically safe circuit and appropriate variant-specific documentation.
Huba 711 original order-code and Ex-data audit — 22 October 2026
Verified original 711 datasheet: Huba Control Type 711 (manufacturer PDF rehosted by Wexon, edition 09/2020). Manufacturer document lists relative pressure 0–0.1 through 0–16 bar, 4–20 mA 2-wire output, Ex-version supply 10–30 VDC, 3–300 m cable options and −10 to +80°C media/ambient limits.
Approval marking on manufacturer’s document: ATEX SEV 12 ATEX 0138, II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga; IECEx entry printed as “IECEx SEV 12.006”, Ex ia IIC T4 Ga. Confirm the full current IECEx certificate number and issue from the official IECEx database, rather than assuming the abbreviated printed string is a complete searchable record. Manufacturer’s type-711 order-code table indicates admission option 0 = without Ex protection, option 1 = Ex protection, and different seals, cables and wetted grades. Ordinary 711 products cannot be described as Ex-certified solely by the family designation.
The 2020 data document is historical evidence; validate current certificate status, system grounding and the actual delivered model label before selecting hazardous-area equipment.
Huba 711 — immersion depth, vented reference, loop output and qualified Ex versions
| Parameter | Manufacturer data | Engineering implication |
|---|---|---|
| Working principle | Submersible ceramic pressure cell measures hydrostatic head; 0…16 bar family relative-pressure range | Liquid level is h=Δp/(ρg). Fluid density and temperature change the resulting level height. |
| Signal/electrical | 4–20 mA pressure output on the published base family; 3 to 300 m cable lengths | Vented relative-pressure cable must remain open to clean atmospheric reference, away from water ingress. |
| Performance dynamics | Manufacturer lists <0.1 ms transducer response and <1 s switch-on delay | Fast sensing cell does not remove stilling-well damping, vent blockage or control averaging. |
| Media and construction | Wetted materials, cable polymer, seawater-resistant and drinking-water designs vary | Check sealing compatibility with diesel, potable water, oil or seawater separately and use strain relief. |
| Explosion-protected options | Maker explicitly offers IECEx Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and ATEX II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga configurations | These are optional documented builds: no assertion that every generic Type 711 SKU is intrinsically safe. |
| Approvals and accessories | UL 61010-1, marine approval and potable-water certificates appear as distinct documentation | Match code, application and certificate schedule. Hydrostatic level output is not a certified high-level trip on its own. |
Selection and safety context
For vented type, damaged or blocked vent tubing produces barometric zero error. Installation requires cable hanger/moisture barrier and level-density correction. Intrinsic safety also requires approved input barriers and an assessment of cable capacitance/inductance; check exact loop documents and explosion-protection annex.
