SST SprintIR-6S
Manufacturer-verified NDIR CO₂ sensor module.
Key Specifications
Product Positioning
SST SprintIR-6S is part of SST SENSING’s NDIR CO₂ sensing portfolio for OEM integration.
SprintIR-6S: High-Concentration OEM Selection
Intended measurement scale: The manufacturer family is represented with configurations reaching 100% CO₂. An option described as “up to 100%” does not establish that every SprintIR-6S order code covers that span. Confirm the ordered range and quantitative accuracy from the correct technical sheet.
Interface: UART is listed. Confirm power, logic voltage, command protocol, update cadence and the handling of saturated or invalid readings. For process control, the end-to-end sampling and signal response matter more than the model name alone.
Selection distinction: SprintIR-R and ExplorIR-M also appear in AirAlign’s high-concentration NDIR catalog. Their similar upper-range descriptions must not be taken as proof of equal dynamic response, power consumption, mechanical dimensions or calibration requirements.
Sampling: Check gas-flow exposure, pressure changes, temperature and condensation before integrating this module into a chamber or inline instrument.

SST SprintIR-6S — 20 readings/s fast flow-through LED NDIR — original manufacturer selection data
SST’s OEM gas sensor specifications depend on the ordered range, gas flow, pressure and firmware. Reporting frequency, actual gas response and measurement uncertainty are distinct parameters.
| Parameter | OEM data | Engineering boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement physics | Solid-state LED NDIR CO₂ absorption rather than chemical gas cell | Unlike a generic IR room sensor, the 6S is optimized for fast flow-through test gas. |
| Data throughput | 20 CO₂ readings per second | The 50 readings/second headline belongs to SprintIR-R, not SprintIR-6S. |
| Gas range | Separate 0–5%, 0–20%, 0–60% and 0–100% versions (depending on ordered sensor) | A 100%-vol capable unit is not automatically low-ppm optimized. |
| Manufacturer precision | SST original SprintIR-6S product sheet states 70ppm typical grade within qualified configuration | Typical precision and full-range accuracy need the exact range datasheet. |
| Sampling architecture | Supplied flow-through adapter with high-throughput optical chamber | Host gas inlet/tubing residence time and supplied flow determine actual transient. |
| Electrical / interface | UART control/data; dedicated digital power rail, generally 3.3V applications | Do not attach to a 24V PLC channel or assume native 4–20mA/RS485. |
| Calibration | Automatic zeroing functions in OEM interface | Factory or field reference gas depends on sampling gas and contamination. |
| Typical applications | CO₂ suppression tests, breath/sports science, high-speed laboratory measurements | Not an intrinsic personal oxygen-deficiency alarm or independent fire safety controller. |
Gas sampling, UART commissioning and error budget
A ’20 measurements per second’ sampling rate is not the same as a chamber 20Hz gas-response bandwidth. For a CO₂ fire suppression test, evaluate sample-tube adsorption, pressure, pump flow and inlet delay, and distinguish the detector’s numerical range from its gas step response. The current maker site mentions 0–100% orderable options, but model-specific sample flow, pressure and actual concentration accuracy are governed by the selected 6S range code. SST lists auto-zero and host UART control; document when calibration occurs rather than assuming factory defaults are correct for permanently elevated CO₂.
Original official specification: SST exact model page and linked latest technical documents. The actual range variant, test gas conditions and electrical datasheet must govern integration.
