Digital CO/NO₂ — two toxic gases, two alarm scales

BAPI’s digital parking-garage transmitter lists separate CO 0–500 ppm and NO₂ 0–20 ppm ranges. Those channels require different ventilation alarm points and health-exposure logic rather than one combined ppm threshold. BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU are different serial protocols that must be configured correctly with baud/address/point mapping. A ventilation controller may use these readings but a BMS gas transmitter does not independently provide every required certified fire or personal safety alarm.

BAPI Digital CO & NO₂ — two independent parking-garage hazards — engineering specifications

Original maker documentation distinguishes the ordered hardware’s measured channels, outputs and qualified use cases. Optional feature lists do not establish that every product variant contains every sensor, controller or protocol.

FeatureOEM informationEngineering limits
Target gasesCarbon monoxide 0–500 ppm; nitrogen dioxide 0–20 ppm as selected sensing elementsTwo gases require different alarm setpoints; never scale NO₂ using a CO 500-ppm BACnet point.
Mounting optionsDuct probe or rough-service wall/beam enclosureSelect sensor exposure and service access based on garage exhaust/traffic pattern.
Bus choicesField-configurable BACnet MS/TP or Modbus RTUConfigure RS485 address, baud/parity, bus termination and BAS object mapping.
Other channelsOptional temperature and relative humidityA gas-only model does not automatically provide calibrated RH/temperature.
Self-check and maintenanceMaker indicates daily element self-test and approximately seven-year nominal element lifeAutomatic electrical test cannot replace span gas verification or gas-response testing.
CertificatesOriginal vendor offers electronic CO and NO₂ calibration certificates on requestCalibration paperwork and real-time post-installation acceptance are distinct.
ApplicationParking structures, warehouses, equipment spacesMaintain alarm-to-fan/ventilation interlocks and fail-safe BACnet loss response.

Commissioning and application guidance

Build the parking garage BAS schedule with separate CO ppm and NO₂ ppm point names, thresholds and escalation stages. The ordered part determines installed elements and modbus priority register mapping; optional temperature/RH changes sensor order and address locations. Check the actual wiring manual and stop bits rather than guessing a universal fixed register layout. Self-test refers to on-board element diagnostics; a periodic span gas functional check remains important. BAPI’s device is an air-quality/control sensor, not proof that the complete parking-garage emergency ventilation system meets a regional safety standard.
