Telaire T6793 — compact single-channel CO₂ with defined ABC limitations — model evidence and engineering selection

Current original manufacturer information differentiates optical design, gas span, data interfaces, revision-specific power and calibration assumptions.

CharacteristicSource-backed detailSelection consequence
Gas sensingGold-plated optical NDIR CO₂, diffusion and ABC Logic compensationSingle-channel background algorithm assumptions differ from T6615’s dual-reference design.
Exact model rangesT6793 0–2,000ppm, T6793-5K 0–5,000ppmDo not treat 5K digital range as shipped by every default base unit.
Accuracy band400–5,000ppm ±(45ppm +3% reading) at specified SATP conditionsA typical 1,000ppm expression yields ±75ppm, independent span gas also adds uncertainty.
Environment dependenceTemperature ~5ppm/°C or 0.5%reading/°C, whichever larger; pressure 0.13%reading/mmHgAccount for altitude/weather and enclosure temperature.
Digital refresh versus gas stepA new value every 5 seconds; T90 <3 minutesThe bus update is much faster than the gas chamber response.
Initial warmup<2 minutes functional; about 10 minutes until maximum accuracyBAS should not alarm based on unqualified post-power readings.
Digital/electricalI²C to 100kHz, UART at 19,200 baud with Modbus framing; 4.5–5.5V DCHost UART Modbus protocol does not imply native RS485 electrical transceiver.
Power envelopeAbout 25mA maximum average / 200mA peak, manufacturer order documentationDimension module power for optical pulse, not 20mA nominal average only.
Long lifeTypical 15-year design and <2%FS lifetime stabilityABC needs suitable low-CO₂ exposure and field verification.

Firmware, operating environment and calibration

Telaire’s T6793 is a compact HVAC sensor whose patented ABC Logic assumes a realistic low-CO₂ baseline. The maker warns sustained exposure below 400ppm can itself affect automatic correction, and a long-occupied space without outdoor background may not provide a reliable reference either. Distinguish 5-second data reporting from up-to-three-minute gas response, and record model suffix before scaling a 0–2kppm base unit as 5kppm. The USB evaluation kit and six-pin header are development accessories, not built-in industrial isolation or a finished safety alarm.
