Product Positioning

Winsen MH-Z14A is an NDIR CO₂ sensor or OEM sensing module from WINSEN.

MH-Z14A: Communication and Calibration Checks

Range selection: The MH-Z14A listing describes 400–10,000 ppm options. Confirm the specific configured full scale rather than treating every module as a fixed 10,000 ppm output; setpoint resolution and controller scaling depend on the ordered or configured range.

Dual output paths: UART and PWM are not interchangeable electrical signals. A serial host must implement the proper message framing and checksum; a PWM host must time duty/period according to the maker’s output definition. Validate both at known CO₂ concentrations instead of inferring they will agree automatically.

Accuracy: The cited ±50 ppm + 5% reading has a fixed and proportional component. Confirm test conditions, warm-up time, automatic baseline behavior and the actual calibration method for installations that may stay at elevated CO₂ for long periods.

Deployment: Plan airflow exposure, condensation control and sensor replacement access before embedding the module in an enclosure.

OEM integration, calibration and product lifecycle

Winsen’s current listing marks MH-Z14A discontinued and directs buyers to the MH-Z16 class. That does not establish mechanical drop-in, firmware compatibility or the same pressure/gas range on MH-Z16. For maintenance, preserve calibration constants, check UART commands and PWM mapping and implement a controlled replacement qualification. The cited error expression includes a large 5%-of-reading term; deploying the module in a high-CO₂ control environment requires an independent reference instrument. A bare OEM module does not meet complete worker safety or hazardous area requirements by itself.
