ZE08K-CH₂O — multiple host outputs
ZE08K-CH₂O is reported with UART, DAC and PWM options and an approximately 0–5 ppm formaldehyde range. Determine which actual outputs are populated or enabled on the ordered module and scale each separately; a UART concentration value is not the same as a calibrated DAC voltage without a defined transfer function. In HVAC systems, ensure enclosure airflow exposes the electrochemical element without persistent condensation. The B and K formaldehyde families differ in range and integration and should not be treated as drop-in substitutes.
ZE08K-CH₂O — five-ppm formaldehyde with analog and UART — technical model review
Source-specific manufacturer specifications, test conditions and practical engineering distinctions. The stated model/range is not a blanket safety approval or a guarantee that related part codes perform identically.
| Parameter | OEM documentation | Engineering interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Gas and chemistry | Electrochemical HCHO with temperature compensation | Designed for formaldehyde, not generic all-VOC monitoring. |
| Factory range | 0–5 ppm; digital resolution ≤0.01 ppm | Unlike ZE08B’s 0–1.6 ppm sensor span. |
| Power | 3.7–5.5 V DC | Do not wire from 24 V PLC directly. |
| Output modes | 3 V TTL UART; 0.4–2 V analog DAC; manufacturer model page also lists 3 V PWM | These are sensor-board I/O, not 4–20 mA industrial transmitter loop. |
| Warmup / step | ≤3 min preheat; T90 ≤60 s and recovery ≤60 s | Do not equate three-minute initial warmup with sensor response to gas. |
| Environmental range | −20 to +50 °C, 15–90%RH non-condensing | Dry/wet mechanical protection is needed for suitable ducts. |
| Nominal operation life | 5 years in clean air at 18–25 °C | Not the ZE08B two-year rating. |
| Interference | Winsen identifies alcohol and CO as potential cross-sensitive gases | Gas mixture correction and controlled calibration matter. |
Installation, electronics and calibration
Select ZE08K where a higher formaldehyde span and local analog/PWM signaling are needed. The 0.4–2 V signal is the manufacturer output for its 0–5 ppm concentration class; confirm analog scaling, ADC input/reference, signal loading and PWM conversion against the specific interface guide. A sensor’s five-year life statement applies to clean air under constrained conditions, not every VOC-rich chemical workshop. If an instrument is being upgraded from ZE08B, validate pin placement, environmental rating, firmware frame and supplier lifespan separately.
