LMP 331 โ screw-in pressure-derived level
The LMP 331 is a screw-in level/pressure transmitter, meaning process-port choice differs from a hanging submersible LMK or LMP 308i. Convert pressure to height only with known liquid density, reference pressure and mounted elevation. Verify the sensor’s wetted diaphragm, sealing and pressure span for the actual tank, along with its output. An industrial pressure fitting does not establish compatibility with every liquid or tank installation.
LMP 331 โ screw-in hydrostatic level via process pressure: technical profile and specification boundaries
Original BD|SENSORS catalogue differentiates calibrated pressure ranges, media and approval tiers. A family range and optional certification must not be confused with the ordered device.
| Parameter | Original maker statement | Practical selection note |
|---|---|---|
| Design type | Screw-in pressure-derived continuous level transmitter | Different mechanical principle from a hanging submersible LMP 308i. |
| Pressure sensor | Stainless-steel transducer element in threaded process housing | Choose wetted metal, seals and thread to match liquid chemistry/pressure. |
| Reported level | Hydrostatic head and density, not direct ultrasonic free-space distance | At variable density, calibrated liquid-height conversion changes. |
| Mounting geometry | Install at fixed bottom-side connection rather than cable suspension | Account for hydrostatic zero elevation, access and cleanout. |
| Electrical output | Current/voltage signal and connector per exact OEM variant | Configure tank PLC scale using pressure span not presumed tank height. |
| Optional certifications | Manufacturer lists version-dependent intrinsically safe and SIL-function options | Never copy those optional properties into base version without certificate. |
| Application | Continuous storage/process liquid level in compatible media | Pressurized tanks demand gas-space pressure correction and suitable static rating. |
Application engineering and commissioning
A screw-in LMP 331 can offer service access without a submerged cable but introduces a process-wall seal and threaded opening that require proper torque and leak proofing. Verify absolute/gauge reference and headspace pressure: in a closed tank, bottom pressure is the gas-space pressure plus liquid hydrostatic head. For liquid-specific calibration use the correct density (temperature-sensitive) and units. Exact output, Ex/SIL safety and maximum process pressure must be tied to the order code; a general category page cannot prove compliance.
