DPT 100 — differential pressure precision and interfaces

The DPT 100 portfolio spans roughly 10 mbar to 20 bar in manufacturer model options; selecting a high-span cell for a small pressure drop can compromise absolute resolution. Its stated 0.1% full-scale accuracy requires the actual ordered span, reference and calibration conditions. Where Modbus RTU is specified, validate the RS485 cable, address, register mapping and host scaling instead of assuming a purely analog transmitter. Pressure port installation and allowable static pressure need separate checks.

Original BD|SENSORS catalogue differentiates calibrated pressure ranges, media and approval tiers. A family range and optional certification must not be confused with the ordered device.

Application engineering and commissioning

DPT 100 is a precision differential model. In filter or process pressure measurement both ports may sit at significant static pressure, so maximum working pressure and overload must be verified independently from 0–10 mbar cell span. A ±0.1% FSO rating means approximately ±0.01 mbar on a 10 mbar range when its defined conditions apply; compare that with the controller setpoint tolerance and transmitter drift. Establish temperature/pressure compatibility, electrical isolation, correct high/low port orientation, Modbus mapping and exact output mode. This is not interchangeable with DPT 200’s 0.075% grade or its own hazardous-area approvals.
