HTx116-P — distributed multipoint air measurement
Unlike a single-point duct velocity probe, the EBTRON HTx116-P measures an airflow field through a multipoint arrangement for ducts/plenums. Select array dimensions and insertion pattern to capture the actual cross-section and flow nonuniformity. Match the intended analog/BACnet/Modbus variant to the BMS; verify how the transmitter calculates/averages velocity and volume flow. Calibration, sensor count and installation clearances should be documented separately; a plenum array cannot be replaced with a single pitot tube on model-name similarity.

| Parameter | Manufacturer specification | Practical limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Sensing arrangement | High-density multipoint calibrated bead-in-glass thermistor sensor nodes | Unlike single-point pitot/thermal insertion probes, this measures a velocity profile over a duct cross-section. |
| Calibrated airflow speed | 0–5,000 FPM (0–25.4 m/s) | Not necessarily a guarantee of stable performance when a duct is severely obstructed. |
| OEM stated flow precision | ±2% of reading to NIST-traceable airflow standards, including transmitter uncertainty | Specified calibrated node performance is not an unconditional installed whole-duct accuracy in all geometries. |
| Calibration density | 16 flow calibration points | Retain calibration and probe array spacing documentation. |
| Temperature accuracy | ±0.15 °F / ±0.08 °C velocity-weighted average, 3 temperature points | Temperature is flow-weighted at sensor nodes, not a separate absolute room thermometer. |
| Calibrated air temperature | −20…+160 °F (−28.9…+71.1 °C) | Probe calibration envelope differs from electronic housing environmental limits. |
| BAS/network family | BACnet/Modbus restricted to HTB116e, HTM116e, HTS116e, HTC116e per maker | Do not claim all HTx116-P transmitters have native digital BAS connectivity. |
| Probe assembly | Gold-anodized aluminum tubes, 316 stainless option, separate mounting arrangements | Select support/grid density and probe length based on duct geometry. |
System integration and commissioning
Multipoint arrays help characterize uneven duct and plenum profiles, but their performance still relies on the real installation envelope, correct probe depth, bracket orientation and airflow model. EBTRON offers standoff, internal, and insertion configurations; select the appropriate mechanical style for maintenance and fan access. A duct-temperature result is velocity-weighted, so compare trends carefully against a single RTD. Build commissioning into the BAS using the actual model’s analog/digital transmitter and document pressure and damper/fan disturbances. Manufacturer material explicitly restricts which 116e variants support BACnet/Modbus, preventing the parent HTx116-P listing from promising these on every unit.
